Linda A. Travers Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator Office of Environmental Information U.S. Environmental Protection AgencyLinda A. Travers currently serves as the Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator in EPA's Office of Environmental Information (OEI). In this position, Ms. Travers is responsible for delivering information management services that advance the Agency's mission of protecting public health and the environment. Ms. Travers has initiated and led a wide array of national efforts aimed at enhancing the quality, availability and utility of environmental information that support EPA programs and decision-making. These efforts are key in enhancing the work of the Agency's many state, tribal, federal and international partners. Most recently, Ms. Travers is serving as co-chair of the government-wide Data.gov initiative established by the White House to promote the spirit of openness, transparency, and collaboration in government. Ms. Travers previously served as the Deputy Office Director of OEI's Office of Technology Planning and Operations where she was responsible for modernizing EPA’s information infrastructure. She led several Agency-wide planning and budget efforts related to information resources. Ms. Travers was also responsible for overseeing the development of the Central Data Exchange and Facility Registry System. Prior to joining OEI, Ms. Travers directed a number of programs in EPA's Office of Prevention, Pesticides and Toxic Substances. She led information initiatives related to the Agency’s implementation of the Food Quality Protection Act and oversaw the development of an information system for tracking and evaluating pesticide registration activities. Ms. Travers also guided the development of information systems integral to implementing the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI), and participated in developing international guidance on the use of chemical release inventories in countries around the world. Ms. Travers earned a Masters of Public Administration (MPA) from American University, following undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland. She resides near the Chesapeake Bay in Calvert County, Maryland. She has two grown children.
