Abstract:
New technologies – social media, instant messaging, twitter, etc. – blur the lines between work and private life. They are now invigorating the Federal workplace, where are the boundaries, if there are any, for securing sensitive information? How are they living with it? What do you let people have access to? This presentation was given at the 2009 Federal IT Summit by Richard Boly, Senior Foreign Service Officer, State Department; and Simon Szykman, Chief Information Officer, National Institute Standards Technology. The slides were presented on October 28, 2009, at the Department of Commerce at a breakout session to more than 40 federal IT workers. The event was co-sponsored by the Office of Management and Budget's Office of E-Government and the Privacy Committee of the Federal CIO Council.
